The Mall in the LocalHub
The public space on the ground floor of the LocalHub will largely be given over to retail outlets including a convenience store, newsagent and coffee shop. Many other businesses that thrive on high footfall and/or ability to move goods to and from their customers quickly, easily and cheaply will migrate into or close to the LocalHub.
Businesses within the LocalHub not only benefit from having all the local residents able to visit them - using the vans rather than their own cars in many cases - but can also make efficient use of their staff's time throughout the day. When they have customers physically in the store, they can serve them in person but any time the store is quiet, they can process orders placed by residents for delivery via the localnet distribution network. Only when their total workload exceeds what a member of staff can do in a shift do they need to work extra hours or hire extra staff.
Business located within the hub all benefit from automated delivery and collection of boxes to and from their premises.
