Dr. Chris Blair
MA PhD Cantab MIET CEng
Dr Chris Blair has spent the last twenty-five years designing I.T. products – both software and hardware – primarily in the telecommunications arena. He is named as inventor on over twenty patents and seventy patent applications and specialises in helping his clients develop long term product and technology visions.
Chris graduated from Cambridge University with a “starred” first class honours degree in Electrical Science in 1985. He returned there after three years developing telephony and data systems for trading rooms and call centres with a British Telecom (BT) subsidiary. BT then sponsored his doctorate, again at Cambridge, this time in computer communication protocols and models. Further experience with BT and then a Siemens subsidiary led to him being invited to join the board of Eyretel Ltd as Development Director. This rapidly growing start-up developed voice recording systems for trading rooms, call centres and emergency services. He helped take the company public and served as Chief Technology Officer from 2000 to 2003. He has since run his own software and consultancy business, “Software Hothouse Ltd” with a colleague he has known and worked with on and off since 1983.
As an avid birdwatcher, he sees only too often how we are damaging the planet and is incredibly frustrated that our existing transport infrastructure is so far from optimal and could be so much better than it is. As every programmer knows, after a thousand years of incremental advances it's definitely time for a “clean-sheet” design.
Chris met his veterinarian wife at Cambridge and lives on a small farm in East Sussex (UK) with his three children and a host of other animals.
